What food does Buffelsdrift Game Lodge serve?

You can hardly turn a corner here without finding something delicious and farm-fresh waiting to tempt you.Many people are surprised by this, given we’re also an arid semi-desert, but trust us- the food and the Karoo go together. This passion for food is a key part of why Buffelsdrift Game Lodge is so proud to offer you a scintillating A la Carte menu that’s built around the same local, fresh produce- all with an authentic Karoo touch. No fest would be finished without wine, of course, so we added some of the very best, award-winning wines from Route 62 to the menu, too. Wine Route 62 offers an overwhelming diversity of tastes and types, stretching from Outeniquas to Montagu. In fact, this diversity is a key characteristic of Karoo wines. Springing from the lush, fertile soil of the mountains, many of our vineyards are even able to run fully organic!Part of what makes the Karoo so special is that this is a region of microclimates. Cross a hill, and you can find yourself seemingly in an entirely different world. Our winemakers have harnessed that uniquely vibrant landscape to produce everything from fortified wine to dry wines and potstill brandys, united only in their delicious tastes. It doesn’t matter what you like, you’re sure to find it here! And yes, we have some fabulous South African beers to celebrate, too.

Can I catch breakfast before my safari? What if I am a vegetarian?

Our breakfasts are the talk of the town! We offer an inspiring hot-and-cold buffet spread, allowing you to grab breakfast exactly the way you like. We serve from 7 am to 10 am, after which you can help yourself to something from our A la Carte.Does this sound like too much? Don’t worry, we also have a cafe-inspired range of cakes, coffees, and teas for you to enjoy between 10 am and 5 pm, as well as light lunches like salads, curries, and paninis. While South African cuisine has a reputation as meat-heavy, the Buffelsdrift Game Lodge team hasn’t forgotten our vegetarian friends, either.
